My furnace won't turn back on after a power outage. What should I try?

First, check that the furnace switch is on and the breaker hasn’t tripped. Replace the thermostat batteries if the screen is blank. Then turn the furnace power off for a minute and back on to reset the control board. If it still won’t start, the outage may have damaged a fuse, transformer or board, and it’s time to call us.

Can I run my furnace on a generator?

Many furnaces run fine on a generator, but they need clean, stable power and proper grounding. Some can’t sense their own flame when the generator isn’t set up correctly, so they light and then shut off.
